@1920sfan1: Verdi's opera in itself was already very popular, but in this canzone adaptation it reached a massive popularity among many millions. It is easy to understand why: this melody is so captivating that it is almost impossible not to love it. Among the many versions that were made, this definitely is a fabulous one. Visconti's golden, velvety tenor voice glows and shines, adding enhancing this tune's appeal even more :-)
