@richardmarriott237: The 4th beast in Daniel chapter 7 is not Rome. Daniel chapter 7 was a separate dream from the king's vision back in Daniel chapter 2. Daniel chapter 7 is talking about 4 modern nations. The little horn is the antichrist, but you have to know who the beast is before you know who the antichrist is. The pope does not meet every biblical scripture on who the antichrist is.

Pope Leo XIII (1878- 1903, the "golden age) in his encyclical "rerum novara" clearly proclaimed repeatedly that the State does not have the wisdom to treat the poor and downtrodden with equity thus the "church" must guide the State in making all decisions. The "church" must in all cases dictate right and wrong to the State. "Church" bishops/clergy must be involved in State decision making.
